We are
all finally home! It has been a long and hard road but well worth the wait. So lets meet this little guy...
Carson Cecil Nevill
Born January 19, 2008
7lbs 4oz, 20 in long
Total spent in NICU: 10 days
He is named after John's Great Grandfather (Carson) and my Papa (Cecil). He came 4 weeks early. I went into labor at home with just me and Kit here (of course anytime anything major happens, John is at the fire station). So John had to take off and we went to the hospital per Dr.'s orders "just to make sure". John didn't think I was in labor but this momma
knew she was. Once we got there, a friend of ours was my nurse and said that I was dilated to a 5 meaning no turning back now. After brief consideration of delivering naturally, my doctor reminded me of why we were a scheduled c-section in the first place. After agreeing with him, it was only 2 minutes and I was already back in the OR and being prepped. They don't mess around. When Carson was finally delivered, he peed on everything! And this was just the beginning, ha. Since he was a month early, his lungs were a little premature and he was having a little bit of trouble breathing so they took him to NICU and put him under a oxygen hood. I was group strep B positive so he had to stay at least 3 days for a dosing of antibiotic just to be on the safe side. Then while he was there, his biliruben (jaundice) levels were pretty high so he had to be moved to a special bed. And finally after that all cleared up and stayed low, we were able to take him home. Our stay in the NICU was one of the worst things we have ever had to go through. I did meet another mom there with a son, Brady, who was born 9 weeks premature and she was God sent. She helped me focus and not get too emotional. Carson now has a friend for life.
Anyways, we love being home with him. Katlynn is the best big sister ever! She loves holding him and is not the least bit apprehensive about it either. She just picks him up and starts rocking him. She is still adjusting to us being off of a schedule but hopefully we can get back to one soon.
I thank all of you for your prayers and gifts. It has meant the world to us and helped us keep our heads held high during this time. God bless you all.
